Cut by Cut: 51 Remain
After a one year hiatus Colorado Avalanche training camp was back to its typical structure with all members of the organization at every level attending even including a couple try-outs, therefore cuts are expected on a similar timeline leading up to an opening night roster of no more than 23 players.
The Avalanche began camp for its 2021-22 season with 56 names listed on the roster which included 32 forwards, 18 defensemen and six goaltenders. Leading up to the first exhibition game the Avalanche cut five who were obviously not in the plans see any game action.

From junior the two invited forwards Jack O’Brien and Matej Kaslik both had good showings. O’Brien in particular could have earned an Entry Level Contract if the Avalanche were interested in adding to their prospect pipeline.
The Colorado Eagles received three players who are already on AHL contract. Forward Benjamin Tardif looked tenacious in game action and should be a nice minor league depth piece. Similarly, defenseman Rob Hamilton is new to the organization as well but also showed some promise. Rounding out the group is another defenseman Miles Gendron who was with the Eagles and Utah Grizzlies previously.
Another round of cuts is expected after the first preseason game on Tuesday, September 28th.
