After going nearly a week without any cuts the Colorado Avalanche reassigned eight ahead of their fourth preseason game and the start of Colorado Eagles camp. Another cut will likely follow that game to bring the opening night roster in closer focus.

The duo of forwards Ty Lewis and AHL contracted Erik Condra had participated in the third preseason game in Minnesota prior to this cut with Lewis scoring the opening Avalanche goal in the match. Lewis isn’t NHL ready but showed well enough on a line with Shane Bowers creating some offense.
A large swath of defensemen comprise this cut. Unfortunately Nicolas Meloche has never found favor with the current coaching staff and is sent to the minors yet again after only playing one preseason game.
Peter Tischke and Kevin Davis are also on AHL contracts and never got in a game. Practice time at the NHL level must count for something as they are ticketed for AHL depth.
Last year both Mark Alt and Anton Lindholm made it on to the season opening roster as they were part of the injured reserve shuffle but are now sent down among the early waive of cuts and will go through waivers. The Avalanche have a lot more options on defense to examine now.
Finally, goaltender Adam Werner is sent to Eagles camp and leaves just three goaltenders at the NHL level for now.
