Prospect Weekly: Love Your Goalie

With the thinning depth of the Colorado Avalanche prospect pool this series may not continue on a true weekly basis but we will still strive to bring you the most important highlights throughout the year.

After Ivan Zhigalov got his first taste of pro camp with the Avalanche he was back in Kingston, Ontario with his new team in the OHL just in time for opening night. Zhigalov made his first start, picked up a 3-1 win and made 31 of 32 saves for a very successful debut. This save was deemed save of the week. Later on Zhigalov would win OHL goaltender of the week, too.

Colby Ambrosio is off to a hot start in his junior year at Boston College. Here’s some great hands and puck control as Ambrosio already has three goals on the season.

*

Taylor Makar got in on the action as well and didn’t wait near as long to get on the board this year. Cleaning up the garbage around the net is what he does best. And then he scored the next night again, too.

*

And last but not least Oskar Olausson scored his first professional goal in very much Oskar fashion finishing off a 2-on-1. The Eagles went on to win big 6-2 over Calgary.
