Prospect Weekly: Making a Statement

Colby Ambrosio kicked off the week with a patented moving using his speed which helped set up this goal in a 6-2 win for Boston College. Ambrosio has been back at center on the third line and paying dividends with 10 points in 14 games as he uses the middle of the ice well.

Matt Stienburg continues his hot streak with two goals including the overtime marker in a 5-4 win. In eight games thus far Stienburg has 12 points and five goals as he continues to be the biggest Avalanche prospect surprise on the season.

Tyler Weiss is finally finding the back of the net in his senior season as seen below in the first game of a sweep at Alaska. Although he is still a gifted passer Weiss is now a dual threat with five goals and 16 points in 14 games to his name.

It was a low scoring weekend up in Loveland in a pair of games against Henderson. Despite putting up 46 shots on goal the Eagles fell in the first contest 3-2 but Mikhail Matlsev did get this power play goal at least. Maltsev now has scored 12 points in 13 games and is pretty much ready whenever the Avalanche want to give him another chance.

The following night the Eagles turned the tables and pulled out a 2-1 win. Justus Annunen made 23 saves and earned himself his fifth victory on the season. A big glove save on a short handed 2v0 was a highlight of the evening.
