It’s been a while since we took a journey to Russia primarily because Nikolai Kovalenko has been out with an injury but he is at least expected back soon. His teammate Daniil Zhuravlyov took up the task to provide this nifty goal highlight for his first tally of the season. Zhuravlyov also picked up an assist in the 5-2 triumph for Ak Bars.
Continuing on the theme of defensemen scoring, which is apparently a Colorado Avalanche specialty, Nicky Leivermann fires off this impossible angle bank shot off of the goaltender to grab a big 3-2 win for Norte Dame.
No angle needed 🚫
Nick Leivermann fires from BELOW THE GOAL LINE and still finds the net!

And of course the week couldn’t be complete with the Avalanche’s best pro defensive prospect in Justin Barron getting in on the action with this beautiful snipe and eventual game winning goal in a 2-1 final for the Colorado Eagles. Barron quietly has nine points in 14 games which is even more impressive because he is not used as an offensive defenseman or get much power play time.
