Inching closer to opening night in less than a week some more difficult decisions are on the docket. The Colorado Avalanche made several roster adjustments on Sunday, September 29th with a couple more on the horizon before cap compliment 23-man rosters are due by 5pm eastern on October 1st.

Three players were waived as a result of this move and assuming they clear will get assigned to the Colorado Eagles. Two forwards in TJ Tynan and for the first time in his career AJ Greer will see if any other team wants to give him an opportunity. Shane Bowers was also sent to the AHL sans waivers after a strong camp and impressing the coaching staff in particular.
A bit of a surprise was defenseman Kevin Connauton hitting waivers as he was brought in to the organization via a trade and counted on as a veteran penalty killing presence. A facial injury didn’t help his cause but Connauton was a full participant in camp and preseason. The battle on the blueline was fierce with a couple other decisions to make.
After Mikko Rantanen’s joyous signing on September 28th the Avalanche added him to the camp roster which brings the final tally to 26 players. His immigration status as well as any injured reserve placements will come in to play as the 23 cut down requirement and opening night approach.
