Things are winding down for the holidays and planning next steps ahead in 2021 but a few Colorado Avalanche prospects are still on the ice.
Nicky Leivermann was the unexpected shootout hero as he scored in the skills competition seen below to secure an extra point for Notre Dame. Somehow the Irish put up 48 shots on goal in this game and Leivermann contributed 10 of them. He finishes the first half portion of the schedule with seven points in 10 games.

A rare Shamil Shmakov sighting! He too experienced shootout success making this stop to ensure a victory. He has played 11 games in the VHL with a 2.30 goals against average and .922 save percentage thus far.
Finally, to close out 2020 and hope for much brighter days ahead the World Junior Championship is upon us. Four Avalanche prospects are participating and expected to see meaningful ice time.
Drew Helleson and team USA get underway on Christmas Day against a powerhouse Russian team at 7:30pm MT.
Team Canada waits until the following day for the traditional Boxing Day start at 4pm MT versus the covid depleted Germans. Bowen Byram, Alex Newhook and Justin Barron will all look to help Canada defend their gold medal.
