Weekly Cupcakes: Goodbye 2019

Not the usual Sandie flavor this week so we’ll have to make due. News is fewer and far between these days so enjoy some highlight cupcakes sprinkled in.

First up, Gabe Landeskog working to help inspire those fighting their battle with cancer.

Down in the minors some Avalanche prospects are heating up with the Colorado Eagles. Shane Bowers kicked off the scoring with a goal just over a minute into their first match against Tucson. That makes his seventh point in eight games since returning from injury. This goal he take a shot on a two-on-one and beats the goaltender clean. Unfortunately he stat out the second game of the set with a minor lower body injury.

Martin Kaut joined the fun too as he scored his third point in his four games since returning from injury. Here he uses that patented heavy wrist shot for a score in an eventual 4-3 victory.

Over in the Czech Republic it’s early yet in the World Junior Championship but each of the Avalanche prospect teams (Canada, Russia, Finland) have won and lost at least one game thus far. Justus Annunen has been a Star in his contests stopping 45 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to Sweden. Below are some absolute fire highlight saves from that game.
