Both forwards participated in the game but were sent north following the contest for Eagles training camp. Nick Henry got in two games and nearly scored a goal in the second one but it was waived off for goaltender interference. Colin Campbell was on a professional try-out and will now try to earn an AHL contract from the Eagles.
Following the fifth preseason game the Avalanche finally started making some tough decisions with eight more roster adjustments on September 26th.
Another round of roster adjustments: Dries, Joly, Kaut, MacDonald, Miska, O’Connor and Renouf have been assigned to the Eagles.

Forwards with NHL experience who were serious roster contenders at last year’s camp Sheldon Dries and Logan O’Connor will have to work their way up from the AHL again. Michael Joly on an AHL contract was sent back after one requisite preseason contest as well.
Martin Kaut was probably a long shot to make the Avalanche roster but this is the time to see a real plan for him taking shape now that he’s sent back to the Colorado Eagles.
Defensemen Dan Renouf and Jacob MacDonald will need a day to clear waivers before their reassignment.
Many expected Bowen Byram to get NHL games before going back to his junior club Vancouver in the WHL but with several players on the back end left to sort through the Avalanche decided that wasn’t going to happen. Whether that was a change of plan or not is unknown but Byram will have his shot to make the NHL again next year.
Additionally, the third goaltender Hunter Miska was sent to the Colorado Eagles.
