Prospect Weekly: Soaring

The Colorado Eagles picked up where they left off in round one and carried that momentum with them into their round two match against the Idaho Steelheads. Game one was a tight affair which ended in an Eagles 1-0 overtime victory. Game two was a different story with the Eagles scoring early and often to cruise to a 6-2 win and take a 2-0 series lead into Idaho. Games are set for Wednesday, May 2nd and Thursday, May 3rd plus Saturday, May 5th if necessary in Boise.

JC Beaudin continued his strong postseason as well scoring two goals and adding an assist in that game two victory. He opened the scoring as seen below with his quick wrist shot. He also created several plays with Shawn St-Amant, which led to goals. Beaudin was named first star for his efforts. He now leads the team with 10 points in eight postseason games and is second in league scoring, first in goals with six. He’s been playing consistently dominant and is one of the reasons the Eagles are currently enjoying so much success.

Sault Ste. Marie squeaked out an overtime win 4-3 in game seven against Kitchener to move on to the OHL finals. That series begins on Thursday, May 3rd against the Hamilton Bulldogs. Conor Timmins‘ big game in the series was his game one heroics. He added two more assists in the following six games but saved one of them for the series clincher in overtime.

Swift Current is also is moving on to the finals in the WHL. They took their series in six games against Lethbridge with a 5-1 win in that contest. They will now face the Everett Silvertips and that series kicks off on Friday, May 4th. Josh Anderson didn’t score any points in this series but his defensive play is helping the Broncos move forward.
