Prospect Weekly: Heating Up
While only a handful of Colorado Avalanche prospects have hit the ice on the 2020-21 season, those that have are filling the scoresheet.
As mentioned last week, Martin Kaut began playing in Sweden with MODO in the Allsvenskan. It didn’t take him long to begin contributing to his new team as he’s found quick chemistry with Florida Panthers prospect Aleksi Heponiemi. For example as seen below they craft a slick two-on-one together before Kaut jammed home his own rebound on a later score. The duo connected in the following game with Kaut finishing and puts him at three points in his first three games playing in a top six role.

If there ever was a goal which exemplifies Nikolai Kovalenko it would be this one seen below. He powers through two opponents which have closed him off and is able to find the puck again for a quick strike. It was a productive week for Kovalenko as he scored three points in four games and was a combined +6 as well. The KHL eventually named this score their goal of the week.

Alex Beaucage is known for his elite sniping ability in the QMJHL but he executed a superb pass to his teammate in the clip seen below. Beaucage has scored 11 points in six games including seven goals thus far. He is one of the top offensive threats in the league.

Also playing in the QMJHL, Justin Barron has chipped in three points in four games thus far including in this clip seen below where he (probably) faked a shot and then passed to a teammate for a score. Barron has also generated 13 shots on goal in those four games as he works back into the groove on ice again.

Also, with few details yet but Hockey East has also announced a November 20th start. Alex Newhook should be busy with Team Canada then but still great news for Drew Helleson and Colby Ambrosio.
