Prospect Weekly: Eyes on the Prize
The Colorado Eagles wrapped up their first round playoff series against the Wichita Thunder with a 5-3 victory in game six. The series proved a bit more difficult than necessary because the Eagles failed to secure the series in two chances at home in game four and five but ultimately prevailed and will move forward in their quest to defend the Kelly Cup. Their second round series against either Idaho or Allen begins at home on Saturday, April 28th.
JC Beaudin was the standout of this series scoring a team high seven points with four goals and also leads the team in shots on goal with 20 in six games. Beaudin set the tone with his shorthanded overtime winner in game one and added this beauty to even the score early as seen below in the series clincher game six with his patented wrist shot. He has really found his game this postseason and is a key contributor for the Eagles in all areas.

Conor Timmins was the hero and first star of the game for Sault Ste. Marie in game one of the OHL Western Conference finals. He scored on a fake slap shot to tie the game at two in the second period but then saved his best for last. The game was looking like certain overtime when Timmins score the game winning goal with less than a second left in regulation to give the Greyhounds a 3-2 victory. As seen in the highlight below, Timmins rifles the puck right off a face-off, which also just so happened to be shorthanded as well. Timmins stands at 13 points with five goals in 14 playoff contests. The Greyhounds are now up 2-1 in the series after a 3-0 shutout in their first game at Kitchener in game three. This series could be another long one.
