Prospect Weekly: Back to Business

It wasn’t expected that Mikhail Maltsev would need coverage in a prospect report — and probably won’t for much longer — but when he scores a goal as nice as this one seen below it must lead the week in highlights. Maltsev got the between the legs reverse top shelf shot to work in glorious fashion. Unfortunately the Colorado Eagles lost their opening game 5-4 in a shootout. Maltsev added two assists the following game in a 6-3 loss.

Another week, another Nikolai Kovalenko goal. This one might be the most unique goal he’s ever scored as it was banked straight off the top of his helmet soccer style — and still counted. AK Bars would go on to defeat Slavat Ufa 3-2 in a shootout.

Oskar Olausson continued his torrid start in the OHL this weekend. Through five games he has six points including four goals and a point in each game. One of the goals he scored seen belowwas this ridiculous game opening marker just ten seconds into the game where he was a total one-man show. Another impressive aspect of his start is that Olausson has 27 shots on goal through those five games and is just one shy of the league leader.

The NCAA season is just underway and one team enjoying a very strong start out of the gate is Omaha who owns a five-game winning streak to open the season. Top left winger Tyler Weiss has had a nice start to his season as well with six points in six games including a three point effort in a 5-1 win over Alaska-Fairbanks. The assist seen below was a slick primary assist on a score which tied the game.
