Prospect Weekly: Sampo Ranta’s Pro Debut

First, one final note on his college career, Sampo Ranta took home a first team All-American selection. Drew Helleson was named a second team All-American as well.

Then Ranta followed those accolades up with his first goal as a professional hockey player in just his second game with the Colorado Eagles. In true to Ranta fashion he was doing work in the crease and was able to put home a rebound. It was the only even strength goal scored in a 4-1 win for the Eagles.

Justin Barron helped the Halifax Mooseheads snap Charlottetown’s 15 game win streak with a goal to open the scoring in an eventual 5-2 victory. Barron is also heating up with his seventh goal of the season and this tally shows both his puck carrying and shooting through traffic abilities.

Sasha Mutala is keeping his production going in the WHL scoring his fourth goal of the season on this power play marker.
