Prospect Weekly: Finding a way
It’s been a slow couple of weeks as hockey around world begins to pick up again after the holidays and attempt to navigate the ever present COVID-19 challenges.
Since the conclusion of the World Junior Championship all Colorado Avalanche prospects have returned to their club teams but only the NCAA is back in action while the CHL aims to sort out their plans. The QMJHL will have a couple weeks of protected bubble hubs in Quebec by the end of this month while the Maritime provinces are hoping for clearance to resume playing in home rinks.
With all the Avalanche prospects at Boston College finally playing in a game together they all touched the puck on this Colby Ambrosio power play goal. Unfortunately Alex Newhook would injure his shoulder again in this game and will be out of the lineup for a little while. Ambrosio is filling in Newhook’s role nicely and is on a point per game pace through nine games played.

Sampo Ranta was recently named the Big 10 second star of the week but hasn’t cooled down since and also put up a five goal in five game run. He’s currently tied for third place in the nation with nine goals on the season in which Ranta has played 14 games.

The AHL plans to begin on February 5th and the Colorado Eagles will take part in what’s expected to be a very pared down schedule with a truncated or skipped postseason. Training camp opens for the squad on January 25th with a few interesting invitees as they wait for the OHL and WHL to schedule games.
Roster Alert: We have signed goaltender Trent Miner, along with forwards Luka Burzan, Jean-Luc Foudy and Sasha Mutala to amateur tryout agreements.

Meanwhile, Jean-Luc Foudy is still in Sweden at present and scored his second goal of the season on a breakaway. He’s generally been tasked with the role of fourth line center in 11 games across the pond.
Nice second goal of the season for Jean-Luc Foudy. Thx @Greger_jens #avsprospects @AvsBRblog https://t.co/tB6H1Taad0
