Prospect Weekly: Warm Up the Fax

A few Avalanche prospects looking for contracts turned up their games this past week hoping someone took notice.

Shane Bowers showed up again in prime time. This time tying the game against Cornell in which BU would go on to win 3-1 in the regional semi-final. BU would eventually fall 6-3 to Michigan in the final and ending their season. Bowers finishes with 17 goals and 32 points in 40 games, an excellent freshman season.

Travis Barron scored the 4th goal on the way to Ottawa’s 5-4 upset of Hamilton in game two as seen in the highlight package below. Barron also chipped in two assists in the game one loss.  Ottawa is currently down 2-1 in the series and could be out as soon as the weekend if they don’t have another gritty upset in their bag of tricks.

Josh Anderson opened his playoff series with a strong game and an assist in Swift Current’s 3-0 win over Regina. He chipped in an assist and played over 20 minutes as seen in the shift by shift compilation below. Swift Current is presently holding a 2-1 lead over Regina in the series and that one could go down to the wire into next week.

Conor Timmins has scored four points so far in the post season including a goal as seen below in Sault Ste. Marie’s 8-0 drubbing of Saginaw in game two. The Greyhounds unsurprisingly hold a 3-0 series lead and look to punch their ticket to round two with a victory on Wednesday evening. They are just getting warmed up.

Brandon was having a tougher time than expected in their opening playoff series, getting blown out twice by Medicine Hat. Ty Lewis chipped in a shorthanded goal in the 7-3 game two loss as seen below. However Brandon got back in the series with a 5-3 win in game three and Lewis scored twice in that contest and was named first star.
