GDT: Burgundy/White Scrimmage

Good morning all. Your Colorado Avalanche split in two to face each other today at DU’s Magness Arena. Game time is Noon ET and 10am local. Marc Moser and Peter McNab will have the radio call on Altitude 950.

The traditional end to training camp will be mainly prospects today with a light smattering of veteran players. Semyon Varlamov has indicated he’d like to get some time in so he will be dressed and ready at the start. Rosters will be as follows, courtesy of the Avs:

Training Camp has taken it’s toll on the Avs 55-man roster so far. Colin Wilson (?BI) and Mark Barberio (LBI) have been skating on their own in non-contact jerseys. Tyson Jost (groin), Tyson Barrie (UBI) and Josh Anderson (?) skated on Day 1 but were off Day 2. Joe Colborne (back), Shawn St-Amant (wrist/hand) and Julien Nantel (?BI) didn’t participate at all. Of course Nikita Zadorov hasn’t been around at all due to a late signing and visa red tape.

Post-game, a contingent of Burgundians will be meeting up at the Pioneer Bar to chat and celebrate the Avs first victory of the season. Stop by and say hi.

If you’d like to hang out and chat about the game, we have a GDT channel on the Burgundy Rainbow Discord server just for that. If you’re brave enough for voice chat, you’ll find it here.

  • “Celebrate the Avs first victory?” Lets not get ahead of ourselves. You know that the media think the avs will lose. #lolAvssuck

  • I gather Varly is getting beat a lot by our non NHL guys?

    • Yeah, Varly didn’t look too sharp, but he said himself he needs games to get his timing back because it’s been so long since he’s played. That’s why he was insistent on playing this one. He said he felt fine physically, that’s good enough for me until real games start.
