BREAKING: Zadorov Has Been Signed
After a long offseason, the Avalanche and Nikita Zadorov have agreed on a contract. Zadorov has missed two days of camp because of being without a contract. The two sides were haggling between $2M and $2.5M AAV. Both sides were very adamant in not backing down. Today it seems both teams gave in. The deal is a 2 year deal at $2.15M per year. (per BSNDenver)
Zadorov was a cornerstone in the Ryan O’Reilly deal that happened in 2015 which sent Zadorov, Grigorenko, JT Compher, and a second-round pick to Colorado. Much of the success of this trade falls on Zadorov, so it is good to hear that the standoff has ended, it went on long enough. Now the Avalanche can move on with their defensive core going into the season.
Look forward to seeing Zadorov in camp this weekend.
This is great news. Another distraction avoided and another reason to be excited for the future.
Hip Hip Hoorah! Hip Hip Hoorah!!
And I now await the “Ha, Sakic overpaid for a 3rd pairing defenseman” theme.
Can’t be, it’s not Tuesday.
Great news; now go earn that extension Z.
Great job Joe Sakic. You held your own and sent the right message. 9/10 for me on this one.
YAY!
