That Pickard mask is beautiful. The G-Knights are going to love having him on their team. I never thought that he had a very high ceiling as a goalie (Brian Elliotesque ceiling) but he always seemed like an elite person to have around the team.

    Regarding the Dutchy saga…

I like Duchene. He is worth paying to see live. Very exciting player. I also think he’s a “good guy” and someone who treats people with respect. I don’t want to see him in another uniform, but it has become obvious trading him is the right thing to do at this point.

When you read the national medias or the fan sites, the narrative is very strong. The organization sucks. It’s Sakic’s fault. Poor Dutchy, he “deserves” to have a chance somewhere else.

I know I’m going against the current, but I feel like most of the blame should be on Dutchy’s shoulders. It started when he celebrated his 30th goal of the season in 2016. Roy should have kept that in the locker room, but it was indeed a selfish behaviour. He was horrible last season and he quit on the team mid-season. He is a mentally fragile player and that affects his teamates.

The whole “I am training without a team identity this summer” charade is very unprofessional and immature. YOU ARE UNDER CONTRACT with the Colorado Avalanche for 2 more years. If you had played better and work harder instead of pouting, maybe your name wouldn’t be in the trade rumors.

Easier to blame Sakic because he said everyone was expendable except for Mack and Rants. Did you hear Landy complain ? Did you hear Barrie, Varly or EJ complain ? Everything else comes from rumors or other GMs/owners opening their big mouths (Hello Ottawa!). Sakic did not openly put Duchene on the market or put fuel on rumors. The media did that alone.

I still like Duchene, but lately, I am not impressed at all.

I have been on the “Keep Duchene” bandwagon since forever, but I guess I have to realistically say that it’s time he’s dealt. I think the situation has deteriorated beyond salvaging the Avs and Duchene’s professional relationship.

I am on board with that and Sakic is too. It takes two to tango.
Then who would you trade Barrie for? RNH ? Nope. DeBrusk + Zboril ? Meh.. Pulock + Ho Sang ? Yes!!! Snow wouldn’t…

To me, it depends on the development of Z. If he stays on track, I know this may be sacrilegious to say, but I would keep Barrie and trade EJ.

I am now going to run and hide.
