GWG Challenge: Opening Week 2024 – 2025

Good morning, Avs fans!

Today marks the beginning of the 2024-2025 hockey season, and our Colorado Avalanche will be in Las Vegas to kick things off against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Today also marks the beginning of the eighth edition of our Game-Winning Goal Challenge!

Here’s a quick primer for those of you who are new to the game, and a refresher for our returning players.

A series of questions will be posted at the beginning of each week of the regular season, ranked in order of point value.  The breakdown is as follows:

• Game-Winning Goal Questions (5 Points for each correct guess).  One answer per question.
• Two Multiple Choice Questions (3 Points for the first question, 2 Points for the second question).  One answer per question.
• One Multiple Choice Question (1 Point awarded for each correct answer, 1 Point deducted for each incorrect answer). No limit on answers.
• Discord-Only Bonus Question (Varying point values weekly.).  This question is only available on the #gwg-challenge on the Burgundy Review Discord Server.  One answer per participant.

Point totals will be tabulated at the end of each week and published on our Discord server, with a new series of questions to follow at the beginning of each week.

The top winner will receive accolades on the Burgundy Review Discord server based on the following:

• Weekly winner(s): username tag and color upgrade for the week following a win.
• Monthly winner(s): username tag and color upgrade for the week following a win in the preceding month.
• Regular season Champion(s): username tag and color upgrade throughout the postseason and offseason, and into the first week of the following season.
• Postseason MVP (awarded during postseason play only): username tag and color upgrade throughout the offseason, and into the first week of the following season.
• Game-Winning Goal Challenge Champion: username tag and color upgrade throughout the offseason, and through the entire following season.

There may be extra surprises unveiled as the season progresses, so be on the lookout!
