GDT: Avalanche at Devils, Game #2
Good afternoon sports fans! Your Colorado Avalanche take on the Devils of New Jersey at the Rock. Game time is 2pm ET/Noon in the mountains and can be seen on Altitude and NHL.tv. Moser’s radio call will be available as usual.
The Avs opened the season with a win and Nikita Zadorov in street clothes. At least one of those things will be different today with the big D back in the lineup. Jonathan Bernier will get the start, Coach Bednar said he was going to rotate early in the year to keep both guys fresh for later in the year. This will be his official Avalanche debut. Anton Lindholm was recalled from San Antonio after about a day and joined the team in New Jersey yesterday.
The defensive pairs are a bit of a mystery so far. By TOI, Johnson and Barrie led the team by a mile on Thursday with Nemeth and Barberio in the 18-minute range. Bigras was a few minutes behind them. Pairs were fluid and it’s pretty clear the strategy is to play the top 2 guys as much as possible and the other 4 get put with them situationally.
