I thought the olympics would end up with younger rosters, not older one. I guess a few vets isn’t bad either.

  • Those PTOs the Caps (and perhaps Avs) are looking at are ugly. Polak/Toots/Stuart no thanks. Franson is ok, sort of, but not sure I see the point.

    • Yeah it’s bad enough we have Cowen on one. No need to have our camp resemble an ECHL camp.

I don’t have a problem with Cowen. The hip surgery is the same that Varly got. I’m just more amped to let the kids run the team and less amped to see how many reclamation projects pan out.

  • If Sakic does what he say (get younger and faster) then we don’t want PTO’s for older vets. Unless they just need someone for Siemens to maim on the ice?

The 3 questions article was interesting, but I have 3 different burning questions. Or more.

    1. Will Varly return to form? It’s hard to argue he was the key to their last playoff appearance season.
    2. It’s not whether Dutch is traded, but what will we get for him. Will it be a mostly futures trade, or will the FNG return take a roster spot from a youngster?
    3. How good are guys like Sven, JTC, and Barbs? They showed potential last year, but are they top flight players, or marginal NHL’ers/waiver wire fodder?
    4. Which young D men step up to the next level? Bigras? Siemens? Lindholm? Mironov?

Too many question marks for this team. I’m sure the lazy staff writers will have some interesting things to say about the question marks for this season in the coming days.

Anyone here feel Varly and Bernier are an “unproven duo”?. That seems a little silly. Whether Varly comes back to form , sure. Bernier is likely an upgrade

Yeah, that was a headscratcher. I would have gone with inconsistent rather than unproven. Say what you want about their play there isn’t a question if they are NHL goalies or anything like that.

For some reason, the new Cupcakes logo makes me think of Total Recall. I can’t imagine why.

Sorry if the picture is a rules violation. Please remove it if you like. I’m unable to.
